Draymond Green and Bradley Beal ejected after altercation

In what turned out to be a very exciting game, the Golden State Warriors faced off against the Washington Wizards Friday night. The Wizards were in control for the majority of the game beating the Warriors at their own game, hitting three after three after three while the Warriors just kept throwing up bricks.

Throughout the first half, Draymond was being Draymond. You know, that emotional rock that has helped lift the Warriors to two NBA Championships. He was doing a lot of talking, flailing, and just being that guy you hate if you’re on the opposing team. With less than 30 seconds to go in the 1st half, Bradley Beal had the ball at the top of the 3-point line with Draymond Green guarding him. Beal drove to the lane, then WAP! Green swatted the ball, which landed into the hands of Kelly Oubre Jr. Green immediately yelled and glared in Beal’s direction. However, the play continued on as Oubre put up a 3-pointer. The shot missed as Beal and Green were tenaciously battling inside for position. As Green boxed out the Wizards guard, Beal grabbed Draymond’s face and forced him into a headlock leading both guys to clinch one another causing them to subsequently fall down and nearly into the crowd.

Soon after, Warriors and Wizards players rushed to the action to try to separate Draymond Green and Bradley Beal. Kelly Oubre, who is quickly becoming the highly emotional piece for the Wizards, came fist flying accidentally braising John Wall over the head as well as hitting Klay Thompson. As the players were finally separated, Green raised from the floor with part of his jersey ripped off. An aftermath of what looked to be a major brawl, but actually a minor scuffle.

The NBA is reviewing the fight and will have to make decision regarding possible suspensions, and this brings us to Predictions and Realizations.

Predictions and Realizations

Prediction: Draymond Green has a history with playing dirty, getting tossed out of games, and suspended so the NBA definitely has a target on his back. However, he did not a throw a punch so the punishment should not be too severe. Result: 1-game suspension.

Prediction: Bradley Beal, no matter how you look at it, started this fight. He grabbed Draymond, causing them to clinch and then fall to the ground. And with the ripped shirt, Green came out looking like the victim. But just like Green, Beal did not throw a punch. Result: 1-game suspension.

Prediction: Oh, Kelly Oubre, you still have lots to learn. He is starting to becoming one of my favorite players but threw a punch, not only accidentally towards his teammate, but also at Klay Thompson. With his actions against the Celtics last post-season, Kelly is quickly building a rap sheet which may force the NBA keep a keen eye on his actions in these type of matters. Result: 2-game suspension.

Realization: Kelly Oubre Jr. will either have to tone down his actions a bit or accept the fate as that “Draymond” type player for the Wizards, which at times will hurt or benefit his team.

Let me know your thoughts. Should these players be suspended? If so, for how long?

Till next time…
